Caring Ministries

We believe that we are called to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, shelter the homeless, and comfort the sick.

As such, in addition to supporting one another within our congregation, we actively engage in ministries that allow us to partner with other organizations and multiply the effectiveness of our actions.

Our Outreach and Witness Ministry has developed strategic partnerships with many community organizations including Hands on Hartford, Rocky Hill Food Pantry and Social Services, Covenant to Care, the Connecticut Diaper Bank, Our Church’s Wider Mission, and Church World Services. This ministry also supports other organizations that focus on a wide variety of needs, such as:

  • Natural disaster relief

  • Immigration and refugee assistance

  • Grief support

  • School and education support

  • Homelessness

  • LGBTQIA+ issues

  • And many more

We also enjoy many hands-on projects, such as  providing care kits for the homeless, baking desserts for community meal providers, supplying and filling back-to-school backpacks, collecting diapers for the Connecticut diaper bank, assembling care kits for the homeless, packing “disaster buckets,” and so much more. There is always room for another project and there is no shortage of need! Our monthly “abundance gifts” are also targeted to specific agencies which we feel called to support, serving a wide range of specific needs.

Internally, our Congregational Care Ministry answers the call for support within our congregation. This group provides regular contact with homebound church members, hospitality for church services and events, and response to health and wellness issues with cards, visits or rides, as needed.
