“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Our Vision
If we don’t know where we want to go, how can we get there?
That’s what our visioning is all about. Our vision is simple and reflects who we want to be as a church.
Living the Vision
Our vision is broad, encompassing all that we strive to be. But we have identified some key “pillars” of our vision. These are the strategies we particularly want to focus on to help us become the active and engaged church we want to be in this changing world.
Widen the Circle. We want to increase our efforts to welcome those who visit, engage with those we already know, invite all into various types of fellowship and service, and learn more about each other and our ministry passions. See Building Community.
Justice and Service. We want to be active participants in spreading love through our actions, as we try to change lives for the better. This involves trying to meet immediate needs, as well as working for justice to right previous wrongs, and helping to care for our beautiful planet and all its rich resources. See Caring and Justice.
Nurture the Younger Church. We believe that the younger church is our future, and we want to encourage children and youth to develop their OWN ideas about faith and spirituality. See Children, Youth & Families.
Build Strong Partnerships in Ministry. Another way to widen the circle is to form partnerships with other churches, other faiths, and other like-minded organizations so that we can magnify the effect of our actions and our contributions. See Caring Ministries and Justice Work.
Increase Visibility and Communications. We want to be clear in our messaging about who we are and what we stand for. We also want to be clear about all the opportunities we offer for learning, seeking and growing. As such, we are working to increase our communications and our visibility in Rocky Hill and beyond, so that we are not “hiding our light under a bushel,” but taking our message to all who may be interested. See Learning, Seeking, Growing.
Our Vision
Serving God by…
Growing in faith as we worship, seek, and learn
Working for justice and equity
Building Community through fellowship and service together
Following development of our vision and pillars we still needed to determine exactly WHAT we need to do to better live our vision. A very well-attended “Dare to Dream” visioning session yielded MANY great ideas which we are working to put into action.
