Music & Arts
At RHCC, we believe that music and arts enhance our worship and open us to the presence of the Divine.
You will find a diverse program that spans many musical genres. We draw from traditional choral texts to modern compositions. In our weekly worship, itβs common to hear music from the Broadway songbook, original compositions, folk music, and many other styles.
Some highlights from our musical year include our annual Festival of Lessons and Carols β a holiday tradition! All are invited to hear new and traditional holiday music and sing favorite carols. Our Mardi Gras Sunday features Dixieland Jazz style worship with brass and woodwinds. Instrumental and vocal solos and ensembles are also featured regularly.
We also welcome guest artists who enhance our worship with their gifts.
And the arts include more than music! We have featured liturgical dance, art installations, and dramatic presentations as well.
Choir
The cornerstone of our music program is our choir. Led by our Music Director, Dr. Julie Hagen, this group rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings and sings in most worship services from September until June. The choir accepts new members on a rolling basis and no audition is necessary. All are invited to sing with us, regardless of level of music experience.
Bell Choir
The Bell Choir presents musical selections throughout the year and also enhances our worship during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Our Bell Choir is also open to all.
